DISTRICT 83 2012-2013 OFFICER NOMINATIONS OPEN

District Governor Lisa Pantano, DTM, announced that the District Nominating Committee has been constituted. Thomas Somers, DTM, IPDG was appointed Chairman of the Committee. The members of the Committee are drawn from all the Divisions within the District. The Nominating Committee is tasked with accepting nominations for various elective positions in the District, evaluating the nominees and presenting a report to the District Governor of the results.
The elective offices consist of: District Governor, Lt. Governor of Education & Training, Lt. Governor of Marketing, and all Division Governors for current Divisions A through F. The missions and purposes of, and the qualifications for, each position are posted on District 83 web site (www.toastmasters83.org). The postings also include the election and campaign ethics rules prescribed by Toastmasters International. Interested Toastmasters are advised to thoroughly familiarize themselves with these rules.
The elections will be held on May 5, 2011 during the 2011 Spring Conference District Council Business Meeting at the Morristown Hyatt, Morristown NJ.
Nominations for all positions may now be forwarded to Thomas Somers either by regular mail or e-mail. His mailing address, e-mail address and other contact information are on the Nomination Form. E-mail submissions must contain all the information required on the nomination form. Incomplete nominations will be rejected. Deadline for nominations is March 16, 2012. Nominations by regular mail will be accepted as long as they are postmarked not later than March 15, 2012 and received by March 19, 2012. Nominations by e-mail must be received not later than 2:00 midnight on March 16, 2012. The nomination form is also posted on the District website. Interested Toastmasters may download the form and send it to Thomas Somers when completed.
Nominees will be interviewed in person by District Nominating Committee on March 24th Address to be determined.

2011 Humorous Speech and Table Topics Contests

On September 24, Toastmasters District 83 (Metropolitan New Jersey, Rockland County and Staten Island) held its Humorous Speech Contest at the Ramada Conference Center in East Hanover, NJ. The speech contest was one of the highlights of the two day (September 24-25) Fall Conference, which also featured special guest, Toastmasters International President, Michael Notaro. In addition, the Table Topics Contest, a contest of impromptu speaking was held.
David Romanchick of Flanders won 1st Place in the Humorous Speech Contest, while James Driscoll, East Brunswick resident, took 2nd Place and Kevin Moulton, Basking Ridge resident, took 3rd Place.

In the Humorous Speech Contest, David Romanchick of Flanders gained the 1st Place trophy in the Humorous Speech Contest, while James Driscoll, East Brunswick resident, took 2nd Place and Kevin Moulton, Basking Ridge resident, followed in 3rd Place. |
