Information:

Radhi Spear joined Toastmasters in June 2000 as a member of AT&T Middletown Toastmasters Club. Each year she has performed duties as a club officer position, now having held every club officer position. In 2005 she attained Select Distinguished Area Governor, then became Division Governor in 2006. In 2007, she was the Lieutenant Governor of Marketing for our district and helped District Governor Bibi Haddad lead District 46 to be Distinguished and 14th in the world. She helped charter 27 clubs and attained the Excellence in Marketing award from Toastmasters International.

Radhi succeeded Bibi as District 46 Governor in July of 2007 and did an outstanding job leading her team, and the district, to another Distinguished District Award for the 2007-2008 Toastmasters year.

Radhi came to the United States in 1984 on a student visa to study at New Jersey Institute of Technology and obtained a Master of Science in Electrical Engineering. She currently works for AT&T Labs in Middletown, NJ. She was born in Bangalore, India, grew up in Lagos, Nigeria, went to high school and college in India and then moved to the United States. Since 1989, she has been married to Steve Spear and they have two daughters, Karen, 11 and Sharon, 14.

Radhi joined Toastmasters with the similar goals to most of our members – to improve her communication skills. After discovering that Toastmasters has enabled her to reap many benefits, she fells compelled to disseminate the values of our organization to new members.

Throughout the years, Radhi learned one very important lesson – that she couldn’t have done it without the help of so many Toastmasters. This thought led her to the 2007-2008 theme for District 46 – “Together We Can.” Johnny Uy, past International President, has previously stated “We are a group of people brought together to do things we could not do alone.”

Radhi believes that together we can help each other meet our individual goals, enabling our clubs, areas, divisions, and ultimately our district to become distinguished. It’s really all about helping each Toastmaster reach their individual goal. One of the rules of the mind is “What’s expected has a powerful tendency to be realized.” She wants us all to have high expectations for ourselves and our district and Together We Can Succeed!
